Pleased to Meet You!

So. Here we are. My name is Amanda, I am the wife part of this writing duo, and if it seems awkward at the beginning, well, we've never done this before. As in written a blog. And the other half of the "we" being Paul, my main squeeze. The aim for this post is to introduce ourselves, give you an idea of what we'll be talking about, and how operations will be set up.

To preface, we absolutely ADORE food! Every time we relocate or vacation somewhere, we primarily experience a place through it's local food. We love finding local greasy spoons that serve fresh local produce, trying a new cultural cuisine, and taking new, unusual niche restaurants for a spin. We also love to cook at home. Sure, we crave junk food from time to time (I am currently munching on Doritos), but on the whole, we try to cook with as many whole ingredients, buy as much locally, and eat as much fresh as we possibly can. I insist on buying a somewhat expensive gallon of milk because it's from a local farm whose cows are free-range and grass fed. By the same token, we DO NOT shy away from using real butter, sugar, cream, etc. In moderation, these WHOLE, minimally processed ingredients are as much a part of our balanced diet as fresh fruits and veggies.

Now, to the meat of the matter (see what I did there?). This blog will be about FOOD. Shocker. We will discuss/review restaurants we visit, both from our present local area, as well as from on the road and vacation areas. We will also make the occasional "Past Favorites" entries where we review restaurants that we liked/disliked from prior to the start of the blog. We are both fairly well traveled, and have lived in multiple parts of the country, so the entries could be from anywhere! Also, we will discuss recipes we try at home, or that we've tried in the past that we really loved. In these "At Home" entries, we will include the full recipe, whether we liked it or not - we want to hear your feedback, so feel free to try the recipes and let us know how you liked them!

Finally, a quick note on the format: we will both be contributing to the blog, but Paul is a man of few words sometimes. In the event that he has no more than a few notes to add, I will write the bulk of the entry. On the occasions where he has more to say, he will write his own piece which will be set next to mine in a "He Said, She Said" style. And you, our fine readers, will be able to distinguish his writing from mine by the font color. I will write in this lovely green, while Paul will write in a luscious dark blue.
